Local legend suggests that Robin Hood and Maid Marion were married at the church. Kline New York: Palgrave Macmillan, 2012 : 145—58. Bower goes on to tell a story about Robin Hood in which he refuses to flee from his enemies while hearing in the greenwood, and then gains a surprise victory over them, apparently as a reward for his piety. It puts us in this fantasy sort of comic book world.

Wikipicky - He plays Oswald Cobblepot, the forerunner to villainous Penguin.

Of all the characters and actors that have graced our TV screens this fall, no one has come close to mesmerizing us like the sinfully delicious Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Oswald Cobblepot a. The Penguin , on Fox's. During a recent visit to Los Angeles including a jaunt to San Francisco for the World Series game 5 , Taylor met up with us at Warner Bros. TV Studios in Burbank to chat about his sudden recognition, parting with his blond hair, and fascinating details about his personal life. Glamour: Forget the formalities. I have to give you a hug. You're so darn fantastic on Gotham! Robin Lord Taylor: Let's do it! Thank you so much. Oh my gosh, that means so much to me. Glamour: I imagine you're having all sorts of funny fan encounters now. Robin: Yeah, it's been happening a lot. I mean it's all been, like, so strange. Robin: Actually, that just happened! It was not at the urinal, but it was in line for the urinal at the World Series recently. The Penguin's in the bathroom! By the way, you really do have the best name ever—both on the show and in real life. Robin: I always thought it doesn't really sound like someone who works in entertainment. It always sounded to me like, the dean of some British prep school or something. So what do your friends call you? Glamour: You grew up in Iowa. Did a career in Hollywood ever seem like a real possibility? Robin: Not at all. I loved theater growing up, and my mom always took us to the touring productions that would come through town. We would go to Chicago all the time and see shows. Eventually I performed in high school, and then I went to Northwestern for college. But when I was maybe 11, we went to Chicago one year and did a limo ride throughout the city. That's a good school. As I got older, I found out they had an amazing theater department. Still, I didn't know if that was what I should be doing. I initially thought I would be an architect, maybe. So I went to architecture camp and quickly learned that I did not want to be an architect. This is not for me. I sat down with in September and asked him about the character or actor he most enjoys playing opposite on Gotham and he said you. Robin: No, he didn't! Glamour: Yes, he did. Clearly you haven't read Glamour. I will see it. Glamour: What is your relationship like with Ben? Robin: I have so much respect for him. Our characters have this crazy, sort of intertwined, twisted relationship where in a weird way they need each other. Oswald enjoys that more than I think Gordon does. Maybe in Orange County or something. A little nod back to The O. I watched a couple episodes back then. Glamour: Oswald has such a unique look, and in real-life your hair is very blond. How often do you pass a mirror and wonder who you're looking at? What the hell is going on? Robin: I have to do it every two weeks. When my roots come in, it starts to look like my hair is levitating off of my head. Oh no, I'm just blond. Glamour: How long does that take every day? Robin: We have it down to about 45 minutes total. It's about 20 to 25 minutes to put on the nose. But then there's a whole airbrush skin treatment of my face. That takes a little bit. And then the eyes and then they paint my teeth disgusting colors. Then they paint my nails. If you pay attention, my nails are always brown and gross. Glamour: What do they do to your eyes exactly? Robin: Just a lot of dark shadowing and dark circles. That way my eyes pop out at you. Glamour: Getting dressed then must be a breeze! Robin: The costumes are just beautiful. They're made specifically for me by this amazing tailor named Martin Greenfield, who does a lot of the suits for the characters on that show. He's an 80-something-year-old Auschwitz survivor who has made suits for the last three Presidents. He makes all the suits for Obama. Made all the suits for Clinton. Made all the suits for George W. Glamour: And now Oswald Cobblepot. Robin: Yeah, it's insane. It's this little hole-in-the-wall in Williamsburg. You walk in there, and it's like the '70s never ended. Glamour: Speaking of the '70s, do we know exactly what time period Gotham takes place in? I think that's one of my favorite things about the show—it kind of steps out of reality. It puts us in this fantasy sort of comic book world. But it's very much influenced by the late '70s, early '80s in New York. Glamour: How would you describe your personality? My friends would say I care a lot. Sociable to a certain extent. Glamour: Ben McKenzie Det. Glamour: Jada Pinkett Smith Fish Mooney? Glamour: Erin Richards Barbara Kean? She's just so fun. Glamour: Donal Logue Harvey Bullock? He's so many things to us. Glamour: Sean Pertwee Alfred Pennyworth Robin: He is the definition of dashing. Glamour: David Mazouz Bruce Wayne? What really scares you? Glamour: I notice you are wearing a wedding ring on your ring finger. Robin: I am married! OK, before we run out of time, when will we see the Penguin and Riddler start to interact? Robin: That's a slow burn, but I hope it's soon because I love Cory Michael Smith. We have fun together off set. We have a little prank-ish thing going that we keep all in the world of the show. So you know, we'll send each other little notes from Oswald to Ed. Little things like that. I want it to happen tomorrow. Glamour: I also heard you say that the Penguin is only at about 10 percent of his full personality right now. That's a lot waiting to go down then! I really like to underestimate because I want this to go for as long as possible. Glamour: That's just good media training right there! Robin: Yeah, it's working, right? Is he afraid that Fish Mooney will kill him now that he is alive? Robin: The Penguin's umbrella, which is big—it's a big Penguin moment. He's not afraid of Fish anymore. He finally feels secure enough, and he wouldn't have announced himself in the police department if he wasn't ready to be completely out. He's got all of his ducks lined up in a row, and he's ready to make his move. But Fish is there, and he's got his eyes set on what she has. He's comin' for her. An all-new episode of Gotham airs tonight on Fox. Check out this little note that Robin drew for us after the interview!
